Question 1

What is the main function of 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film?

Accepted Answer

3M glass insulation films are generally divided into high-definition high-transmittance, medium-transmittance, dark low-transmittance, reflective, one-sided reflective, colored film, daylight-changing film and frosted film. Generally, there are 40% to 90% heat insulation functions to choose from. The higher the heat insulation, the better the heat insulation effect, which effectively blocks external heat and maintains a comfortable indoor temperature. The product has a UV blocking function of 90% or more, which can effectively prevent discoloration, oxidation and skin damage caused by harmful light. At the same time, it also helps to reduce glare and eye discomfort. The increased reflectivity of 3M™ Sunshade Building Window Film Silver-18 Reflective Film can help enhance daytime privacy, create a more unified appearance, and bring you absolute privacy .

Question 2

Does the UV protection of 3M™ Thermal Film lose its effectiveness over time?

Accepted Answer

Of course not! The UV protection used in 3M™ patented adhesives is permanent and will not degrade over time. In fact, 3M™ tested actual glass samples from Dumbarton House in Washington, D.C., where 3M™ thermal film was installed for 10 years, and the UV penetration is still less than 1%. Therefore, consumers do not need to worry about the effectiveness of UV protection.

Question 3

Can 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film effectively reduce indoor glare?

Accepted Answer

3M™ Glass Thermal Insulation Film can reduce the amount of sunlight entering the room, and generally reduce the glare caused by glare near the window; Glass Thermal Insulation Film reflects and absorbs a certain proportion of sunlight, reducing direct sunlight entering the room, thereby reducing indoor glare . For example, the glare reduction rate of the Prestiage series ranges from 22% to 76%, which can effectively reduce indoor glare .

Question 4

What is the lifespan of 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film?

Accepted Answer

The life of thermal insulation film depends on many factors, such as the quality of the material, the quality of the construction, the indoor environment, the outdoor environment, etc. Generally speaking, the life of thermal insulation film can reach 5-10 years. Proper maintenance can make your glass film last longer. In order to extend the life of the thermal insulation film, it is recommended to conduct regular inspections and maintenance. 5-year warranty included.

Question 5

Can 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film increase indoor privacy?

Accepted Answer

If you want to increase indoor privacy in a more private area , you can choose a low-transmittance heat-insulating film. Heat-insulating glass films with low light transmittance can help increase privacy. For example, Prestiage series PR20 or mirror heat-insulating film P18-Silver can reduce the transparency of the glass, improve home privacy, and prevent outsiders from peeping. P18-Silver is a silver reflective film that reduces heat absorption by 77% and has a light transmittance of only 17%. Increasing reflection helps to increase privacy and is enough to block the chance of outsiders coming through the window.

Question 6

What is the typical thickness of 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film?

Accepted Answer

It is composed of more than 200 pieces of film, with a thickness of less than 0.1mm, which is thinner than a sticky note.

Question 7

Can I install 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film myself, or does it need to be professionally installed?

Accepted Answer

If the glass window is relatively small, there shouldn't be any big problems even if you do it for the first time. If it is a large area of glass and you are not familiar with the installation techniques, DIY may cause bubbles or wrinkles, and the product's effectiveness will not be optimal. Imagine the concentration and meticulousness of applying a tempered glass film to your mobile phone. Some customers may think it is too difficult, as mobile phones are applied on the outside. When installing a heat-insulating glass film on a glass that is hundreds of times larger than a mobile phone, you can easily imagine the difficulty and technical components involved. Installing 3M heat-insulating film (sunscreen) is definitely a complicated task that requires professional skills and experience. Question 8

How do 3M™ Thermal Insulation Films affect vision?

Accepted Answer

Although it is difficult for sunlight to penetrate the glass, the glass still maintains its transparency, so the view outside the window is not affected at all. In addition, it can also reduce the glare caused by the window, balance the brightness near the window and inside the room, and improve the lighting environment of the entire room.

Question 9

How long does it take to see the effects of 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film after installation?

Accepted Answer

Once the film is installed, the film may appear milky or cloudy. This is part of the normal drying process and is normal. Blurred vision will gradually decrease over time and will be completely eliminated within two to eight weeks. Small water spots will also decrease and eventually disappear. A few points to note are that the filmed glass should not be moved for 15 days after the film is applied to avoid damage and peeling of the functional film on the edges and corners. Do not clean the glass within 30 days after installation. Changes in appearance during this period are a natural part of the bonding process.

Question 10

Can installing 3M™ Thermal Insulation Film reduce the operating burden of my air conditioner?

Accepted Answer

One of the functions of installing thermal film is to significantly reduce the room temperature. After installing thermal film, it can block up to 88% of solar heat from penetrating the glass. Therefore, generally, after applying the film, it can reduce the temperature by about 5-8 degrees , keeping the room cool , and can minimize the number and time of using the air conditioner, thereby reducing electricity bills and operating burdens.
